Qualifying Conditions for a Texas Medical Marijuana Prescription

Texas has some of the strictest requirements for qualifying conditions in the nation, although House Bill 46 has made significant revisions to the list in 2025. The qualifying conditions include:
Chronic Pain – Added in 2025 and is now one of the most frequent qualifying conditions in Texas.
PTSD – Post-traumatic stress disorder, added in 2021.
Cancer – Any type of cancer, regardless of whether it is terminal or not.
Epilepsy/Seizure Disorder – One of the original qualifying conditions since 2015.
